Millianna
Sharmilla & Arianna = Millianna
MILLIANNA combines a delicate and feminine sensibility with strong, contemporary design. Inspired by fashions and personages of ages past, MILLIANNA accessories are the perfect adornments for those who prefer a sophisticated and worldly aesthetic, delivered in both design and color palette. MILLIANNA is ageless and timeless and while we observe popular culture, our pieces will always serve the distinction of being unique and created with a confident woman in mind. MILLIANNA is the creation of Sharmilla Persaud and Arianna Brooke (the name MILLIANNA being a combination of their first names). Both lovers of history, design and fashion, accessories were a natural incarnation of their combined passions. The friends met while working at BCBG Max Azria in 1995 and have again joined their complimentary professional and creative strengths to create MILLIANNA. Of Indian descent, Sharmilla, with a little unwilling help from her mother, discovered her love of fashion at an early age. Finding the perfect artistic playground in her mother's colorful saris and jewelry, a young Sharmilla went to work cutting and combining them into her own creations. At five, she moved with her family to New York, and now credits the streets of Manhattan for lending an urban edge to her aesthetic as a designer. She is a graduate of FIT with a degree in Design, and prior to co-founding MILLIANNA she worked for fifteen years in research, product development and design within the contemporary fashion industry. Arianna also developed her love of art, architecture, design and fashion early in life, during the summers she spent with her mother's family in Trieste, Italy. Back home in the States, Arianna, under her uncle's tutelage, took up drawing at the age of four and has turned to art, particularly Renaissance-age works, for inspiration in both personal and professional endeavors ever since. She is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University with a background in marketing and, prior to co-founding MILLIANNA, she worked for thirteen years as a marketing executive in the fashion industry. |
